Bed and Breakfast Description
|
|
This is technically a guesthouse but you get the full hotel works except for a restaurant. Converted from a pair of Georgian houses, one the previous home of a lord mayor, the other a nun-run hostel (the convent is out back), it feels more like a refined private home than a commercial setup, particularly as you nurse your G&T in front of the turf fire. There are 23 bedrooms, spotless housekeeping (thanks to Mrs. King, the owner's mum) and the bonus of a carpark for those coming by ferry.
The original style and architecture has been retained and coupled with all the amenities of a modern hotel in a discreet and assuring manner.
Facilities include ensuite bathroom, soundproofing, fan assisted air conditioning, direct dial telephone, Internet connection, television, radio, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer and a trouser press. |

Local Attractions

From designer labels to second hand finds, you'll find it all in Dublin. Grafton Street is home to the famous Brown Thomas store, which stocks an extensive range of designer labels. At the top of Grafton Street you'll find the St. Stephen's Green centre which is packed with shops, cafes and things to do. Off Grafton Street is the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, a beautifully restored Georgian townhouse, now full of quirky and interesting shops. A pianist plays regularly.
North of the river is Henry Street and the Jervis and Ilac centres. The Jervis centre is a new complex located on Jervis Street, near Henry Street, and is bright, clean and a joy to shop in! Arnotts department store is also situated nearby. Nestling between the two main shopping streets is Temple Bar, with its many second hand and specialist shops.
If you want to buy Irish crafts, visit the House of Ireland, on Nassau Street, which stocks a fantastic selection of Irish glassware, china, clothing and linens. For contemporary Irish crafts, visit Kilkenny Design which is also located on Nassau Street. One of Irelands most famous ceramists, Louis Mulcachy, has a shop selling his ceramics at 17, Kildare Street.
