Bed and Breakfast Description

Welcome to Beach Lodge Guest House An excellent family run Visit Britain 4 star non-smoking guest house. The Lodge is a beautiful Edwardian property that has been refurbished whilst preserving its remaining original features and is located in a tree lined avenue just 5 minutes walk from Southbourne's Blue Flag Beach. Southbourne Grove is at the top of Grand Avenue and within easy walking distance, and if offers a selection of shops, pubs and cafés. Southbourne is only a few miles outside Bournemouth's vibrant town centre and a short drive from Poole, Christchurch and the New Forest. Beach Lodge is ideally situated for anyone wishing to explore the beautiful counties of Dorset and Hampshire and is in the perfect location for beach lovers as this stunning coastline has seven miles of award winning sands and spectacular views across Poole Bay. Now with Europe's first artificial surf reef is now operational at Boscombe is providing some great surfing conditions here on the South Coast.



Bournemouth Attractions

The Area A short drive from the stunning New Forest, Southbourne is between Christchurch in the east with its historic 11th century Priory Church and castles, and Boscombe Pier in the west. Bournemouth’s lively town centre is just three miles away with a variety of shops, restaurants, pubs, parks and gardens. Southbourne’s golden beach has Blue Flag status with no sudden shelves or rip currents, a KidZone scheme that reunites lost children with their parents and a popular beach front bistro. From Beach Lodge you can walk down the ‘zig-zag’ path or use the cliff lift. There are a number of excellent golf courses and watersports enthusiasts can enjoy surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, diving and sailing. Slightly further along the coast is Poole with its lovely natural harbour (the second largest in the world) and old quayside. For walkers, the South West Coast Path ends here after travelling 630 miles from Minehead in Somerset. Also ending in Dorset, at Studland Bay, is the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site; travelling from Exmouth it covers 95 miles of stunning coastline and 185 million years of natural history! Then there’s Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour - home to the 2012 Olympic sailing events.

From London/M27 West

• Take the M3 South then join the M27 signposted to the West/Southampton;
• Follow the M27 West onto the A31 towards Ringwood (M27 turns into A31);
• Just after Ringwood at the large intersection turn left joining A338 - signposted Bournemouth and the airport (also called Ringwood-Bournemouth Spur Road);
• Take the left exit onto the A3060 signposted to Royal Bournemouth General Hospital/Wimbourne;
• At the Cooper Dean Roundabout turn left onto Castle Lane East signposted to Royal Bournemouth General Hospital/Boscombe and Southbourne;
• Continue for approx. one mile until you reach a roundabout ( Iford Lane ) then turn right into Christchurch Road/A35;
• After approx. one mile at the Bell Inn traffic lights (just before Pokesdown Train Station) turn left into Seabourne Road ;
• Follow Seabourne Road , which becomes Southbourne Grove, for about ½ a mile;
• Look for Barclays Bank on the right hand corner and turn right into Grand Avenue . Beach Lodge is on the right at the sea end.

Directions from Bournemouth Airport

• On leaving the airport turn left at the T-junction signposted Bournemouth and Christchurch/A338;
• At the roundabout take the 2nd exit towards Bournemouth and Christchurch/A338;
• Go straight across the first set of traffic lights then turn left at second set towards Bournemouth/A338;
• Take the left exit onto the A3060 signposted to Royal Bournemouth General Hospital/Wimbourne;

Pokesdown Train Station is approx. 1 mile from Beach Lodge and is within walking distance if you're feeling energetic; alternatively you can get a taxi.
