Dowfold House Bed & Breakfast is a small, high-quality bed & breakfast establishment, we aim to provide a comfortable, welcoming - and peaceful - home for you to enjoy; and we do GREAT breakfasts! Situated in a quiet location overlooking Crook, with stunning views over Weardale as far as the North Pennines. We welcome business visitors, tourers, cyclists, walkers, dogs and children. People just keep coming back!

Comfortable beds and GREAT breakfasts Peaceful, but not isolated Wireless Internet connection available Open all year Complimentary newspaper - just ask Children welcome - cots and third beds available Cyclists - there are GREAT routes and we can look after your bike in secure garaging We LOVE dogs - but we've never had more than 10 here at any one time! Our dog-secure garden is a particular feature Walkers really enjoy Crook - lots of walks of all kinds - and we have an excellent kit drying room for those damper moments.

Handy for the Durham Dales (Weardale, Teesdale) City of Durham is nearby, with its history, castle and WONDERFUL cathedral (ask Bill Bryson...) A convenient base from which to explore the North East, from Holy Island (Lindisfarne) to Bishop Auckland - home to the Prince Bishops of Durham
Crook is an ideal, peaceful, place to stay when visiting the North East of England. The City of Durham is a 20 minute drive away and our Bed & Breakfast accommodation is close to the A68, a major route to and from Scotland.
Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and the North East coast are all within easy reach of our accomodation, while Crook acts as a gateway to the Durham Dales (Weardale, Teesdale) and the North Pennines.

The nearest bus stop is in High Jobs Hill, opposite the Colliery pub, and is 15 minutes’ walk. The bus (from Durham) also stops in the town centre of Crook, also a 15-minute walk, but uphill.
There are stations in Bishop Auckland and Durham. Bishop Auckland is about 5 miles (10-15 minutes by car), while Durham is 9 miles (20-25 minutes by car).
