Bed and Breakfast Description
With full disabled access. Families and small children are welcome at Orchard Grove. Home-cooked food a speciality. Secure parking. The attractive co-ordinated bedrooms are generously sized featuring en-suite, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Set in landscaped gardens with a children's play area and spacious, secure carpark. Mid-way between Carlow and the medieval city of Kilkenny on the N9. Delicious home baking a speciality - dinner served nightly by prior arrangement, complimentary refreshments on arrival. Orchard Grove is a must on the itinerary of those who wish to discover traditional hospitality and home cooking at its best.



Local Attractions
Surrounded by lush countryside with panoramic views of Mount Leinster and the Blackstairs Mountains Orchard Grove is the perfect location for that relaxing break! With famous walking routes including The South Leinster and Barrow Ways located closeby and numerous sporting opportunities on the Barrow, Ireland’s second longest river, Orchard Grove is equally an ideal retreat for the sports enthusiast. Nearby attractions include Shankill Castle in Paulstown, an 18th century house on the ruins of a Butler Castle and Wells Church dating from the 15th century. Bagenalstown is a pretty town with handsome stone public buildings, riverside walks, picnic tables and a picturesque lock. It also boast the only wheelchair-friendly fishing stands on the River Barrow - a river renowned for the quality of its angling. Well worth a visit is Dunleckney Manor, 2.5km outside the town. Dunleckney Manor was the former home of Walter Bagnel who founded Bagenalstown. Restored to its former glory it is now open to the public. A trip to the southern reaches of the county is sure to reveal many delights including the picturesque village of Borris, a short 15 minute drive. Handsome stone-cut buildings and traditional shop and pub fronts add to its appeal. For those who enjoy a game of golf, tee off at the excellent nine hole golf course situated on the grounds of Borris House, home of an old Irish family, the MacMurrough Kavanaghs. From the nearby bridge you can Walk to Borris Lock on the beautiful River Barrow and Navigation where you can see kingfishers, heron and (if you are very fortunate) otters at play in the clear waters. Leighlinbridge With its narrow, winding streets that rise and fall with the lie of the land, grey limestone malthouses and jagged castle ruins overlooking a 14th century bridge, the centre of the little town of Leighlinbridge straddling the River Barrow and 1km off the N9 opens a vista of an earlier Ireland to the visitor.
