Bert Emke is chief editorial writer of The Courier-Journal, U.S.A : "…..Getting around Ireland by car can be tricky but it offers several big advantages over touring by bus. You’re on your own and can stay an extra few hours, or days, at some place that offers unexpected delights. You can zip along narrow country roads (meaning most of the roads in Ireland) that a bus couldn’t fit through. And you can stay in bed-and-breakfasts, instead of relying exclusively on hotels.
For instance, if we hadn’t been travelling by car, we wouldn’t have ended up staying in Abocurragh Farm Guest House, outside Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. And we wouldn’t have met the landlady, Bernie Mullally, who - judging by the neatness and interior decor of the house and the quality of the breakfast she prepared - must be Ireland’s answer to Martha Stewart.
Abocurragh Guesthouse is set in a 120 acre dairy farm. Guests are welcome to watch the milking, or maybe even help! |
