Bed and Breakfast Description

The Idle Rocks sits on the edge of the harbour wall in the quaint fishing village of St Mawes, on the tip of the Roseland Peninsular, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The view from the hotel is the Cornish dream brought to life: a small, idyllic harbour, narrow lanes of tidy fisherman's cottages, green fields that slope down to the sea and sandy beaches.

The terrace is simply the best place around to sit and watch life on the water of this bustling harbour in summer. In winter, the theatre of water on display (compliments of Mother Nature), provides a natural symphony of entertainment - best enjoyed from the comfort of the hotel lounge, bar and restaurant.

The Idle Rocks has 27 comfortably appointed bedrooms in a choice of categories and most of them offer wonderful sea views. 23 are located in the main building and 4 Premier rooms are located in a restored fisherman's cottage adjacent to the hotel.

All bedrooms are en suite and feature tea/coffee making facilities, colour TV's, direct dial telephones, and hair dryers as standard. Premier and Select rooms offer additional comforts and extras.

Our Premier Balconette rooms offer luxurious accommodation and the most fantastic water views from French windows with balconettes.

The hotel, holder of 2 AA Rosettes for over 12 years, offers exquisite dining in its Water's Edge restaurant. A spacious lounge and bar offer plenty of space for relaxing at any time of the day.

Local Attractions

Having the ever-changing tableau of water-bourne activity right beneath your window might be enough entertainment for many. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of something cool in summer, or a cup of something warming in winter, is the perfect way to relax away your cares.

For the garden-lover, Cornwall spoils you for choice; the Eden Project, Lanhydrock House and the Lost Gardens of Heligan all being within easy reach of your hotel.
