Bed and Breakfast Description

 

The Stables are recently converted traditional stone farm buildings situated less than 1 mile from the A1 in Lincolnshire.

The property is close to the borders of Leicestershire and Rutland, with an added bonus of Sir Isaac Newton's birthplace within walking distance.

Our guests love our breakfasts made from local produce, including:
Home baked bread, conserves, local honey, free range eggs and local sausages!

Our 2 main rooms are in an annex next to the main house. Both are on the ground floor with independent access.
The rooms can either be made up as twin bedded or King size double, depending on the guests wishes. (Blue room can be 3 singles if required).

The Hay loft is on the first floor of the main building. It has a double and single beds and its own private bathroom with a bath and a shower.


 

Grantham Attractions

 
At the rear of the property a public footpath leads over the River Witham to the main village high street. Less than half a mile walk away is Woolsthorpe Manor. This is the birth place and life long retreat of Sir Isaac Newton. The property is owned by the national trust and open to visitors during the summer months.

You can witness first hand some of the "mathematic graffiti" that the great man scribbled on to the walls of the house. A recently converted science centre entertains all the family with many interactive and educational "hands-on" displays.

We are central to many interesting local amenities and close to the borders of Rutland, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. For sailing, walking and bike rides, Rutland Water is an excellent day out for all the family and is only a 25 minute drive away. The historic towns of Stamford, Newark, Grantham and Melton Mowbray and the cities of Lincoln, Nottingham, Leicester and Peterborough are all within a one hour drive (most within 30 minutes).

The stately homes of Burghley House, Belton House, Grimesthorpe Castle and Belvoir Castle are all within a 30 minute drive. Many varied events are held at these locations throughout the year. An open air theatre at Tolethorpe Hall, Stamford stages Shakespearean productions.

Coming from the south, follow the M1 to its end when it becomes the A1.

Turn off at Costerworth onto Bourne Road.

The Stables is located on the B676 in Colsterworth, less than 1 mile from the A1.
