Bed and Breakfast Description

 

The Priory is presently owned by the Marquis de Croismare as a vacation home, however, he is happy to welcome visitors.

Originally The Priory and the surrounding buildings were part of a farm which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book from the 11th Century which was commissioned by William the Conqueror to establish the details of his new Kingdom.
Monks have lived and worked here on occasions until the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII when the property passed back to King Henry who gave it to Christchurch College Oxford
who still own much of the surrounding land.

The Priory has been subject to much renovation work in recent years, and there are several large comfortable rooms available all en suite or with private bathroom, with tea and coffee-making facilities.

 

Brize Norton Attractions

 
There are two Pubs within walking distance and several historic villages such as Minster Lovell and Bampton and even a Local Vineyard are within easy cycling distance of The Priory.

The Cotswold Wildlife Park, several good Golf Courses, Burford, Lechlade on the River Thames, Fairford and its pleasure lakes, and Stow on the Wold, are all very close by.

Bourton on the water, Bibury, Woodstock and Blenheim Palace, birthplace and home of Sir Winston Churchill and seat of the Duke of Marlborough, are all within a 20 minute drive.

London, Shakespeare’s Stratford upon Avon, and Warwick Castle, Stonehenge, Salisbury, and Cheltenham, Gloucester, Bath and Bristol are all within approximately one hours drive.
It is eminently possible to visit the theatre in Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, and even London, and be home in the Priory and in the beautiful Cotswolds an hour later.

The Priory is situated in its own grounds and gardens of 3/4 of an acre on the edge of the village of Brize Norton, near Minster Lovell, Burford, Witney, and 20 minutes from the city of Oxford.
