The Priory is presently owned by the Marquis de Croismare as a vacation home, however, he is happy to welcome visitors.

Originally The Priory and the surrounding buildings were part of a farm which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book from the 11th Century which was commissioned by William the Conqueror to establish the details of his new Kingdom.
Monks have lived and worked here on occasions until the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII when the property passed back to King Henry who gave it to Christchurch College Oxford
who still own much of the surrounding land.

The Priory has been subject to much renovation work in recent years, and there are several large comfortable rooms available all en suite or with private bathroom, with tea and coffee-making facilities.
