Description

Formerly a splendid private house, the Mary Arden Inn dates back to the 1700s. You may recognise the name Mary Arden as William Shakespeare's mother.

Standing opposite Mary Arden's house, the Inn is ideally located for exploring Stratford Upon Avon with all its heritage and history.

The Inn has an excellent menu complemented by an imaginative wine list and a selection of ales, served in the comfortable lounge bar with an open fireplace. The bar leads on to a charming terrace and beer garden.

The Mary Arden Inn has 11 en-suite bedrooms, all recently refurbished and have colour TV, iron and ironing board, CD stereo system, a copy of the complete works of Shakespeare, plus tea and coffee making facilities.

There are two four-poster bedrooms and a honeymoon suite called the Romeo and Juliet suite, which has a four-poster bedroom, small lounge and a Jacuzzi.

Local Attractions
The Mary Arden Inn is situated in the picturesque village of Wilmcote at the very heart of Shakespeare's Warwickshire. Directly opposite is Mary Arden's house - the magnificent, thatched and timer-framed Tudor farmstead which was the childhood home of the playwright's mother.

Three miles away, you'll find Stratford-upon-Avon, with it's world-famous heritage sites, such as Shakespeare's birthplace, Anne Hathaway's Cottage and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

The Mary Arden Inn makes an ideal base for exploring other places of interest, too - including historic Tudor properties such as Coughton Court and Baddersley Clinton, the magnificent castles at Warwick and Kinikworth and the mellow Cotswold villages.
 

Location
Take the A422 northwest out of Stratford and watch out for a right turn to Upper Billesley and Wilmcote.

The Inn stands opposite the Mary Arden House in the centre of the village.
