Bed and Breakfast Description

 

The Firgarth is an elegant Victorian house built in 1875 and enjoying pleasant outlooks. It is conveniently situated in Windermere, in the heart of the Lake District, enabling you to be with easy access of the Lakeland scenery.

All our bedrooms are en suite, with shower. They also each have a colour television and clock radio.

One of the rooms has a four poster bed (pictured right).

Children are welcome, and vegetarians can be catered for. There is also off-street parking for guests' use.

Both Lake Windermere and the shops of Windermere village are within easy walking distance. Further information about the Lake District area and its many attractions are also available at The Firgarth.

 

Windermere Attractions

 
For guests wishing to enjoy walking in the area, maps and selected walks are available. Local walks can be made to:

(1) Hammarbank Viewpoint and then along the lakeside.
(2) Orrest Head with views of Troutbeck Valley & Morecambe Bay.
(3) St. Mary's Church and so on to Sheriff's Walk and Bowness.

Tours of the Lake District in luxury minibuses can be arranged for your enjoyment whereby you are collected from, and returned to, The Firgarth.

You can enjoy pleasure boats on the lake, the World of Beatrix Potter exhibition, the Windermere Steamboat Museum, the Brockhole Visitor Centre, the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway, and the Aquarium of the Lakes.

Bowness and Windermere villages are also worth exploring, with all sorts of interesting shops, and many places to wine and dine yourself!

Further afield, but still within the Lake District National Park, you will find places such as Grasmere (home to William Wordsworth), Ambleside, Coniston, Hawkshead and Keswick, each of which has its own unique charm.
 

B&B Location
 
Leave the M6 near Kendal and take the A684 towards Kendal.

Passing through Kendal look for the A5284 towards Windermere.

This joins the A561 to Windermere. Stay on it.

The A591 becomes Church Street and then Ambleside Road.

The Firgarth is easy to find on Ambleside Road.
