The Brown Horse of Winster combines the old world charm of an original 1850s Lake District Country Inn with the sophistication and quality customer service expected by today’s discerning traveller.

Located amidst the idyllic natural beauty of the Winster Valley, the Brown Horse Inn, and its 6 luxuriously appointed en-suite bedrooms, enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

From here you an enjoy the best of the Lake District with Ambleside, Grasmere, Keswick, Hawkshead, Coniston and the Langdale Valley on your doorstep and retreat back to the peaceful serenity of Winster and the Brown Horse Inn.



Local Attractions
For the more active guests, particularly families with children, there is automatic membership of the Low Wood Hotel’s leisure facility including spa, swimming pool and beauty salon, there is also the opportunity for sailing, fishing, horse riding, cycling and a wide variety of stunning walks to choose from.

We offer six luxurious, en-suite bedrooms. These spacious rooms, complete with beamed ceilings are appointed to a very high standard with colour televisions, tea and coffee making facilities and trouser press. The largest is a family room with one double and a single bed. One bedroom has twin beds and the other four are double bedded.
