St. Michael's is a fine detached house within its own walled grounds on a quiet residential terrace just above Torquay.
St. Michael’s features a delightful open-air sun terrace; an extensive back garden for sunbathing or quiet contemplation and the large bay windows offer panoramic vistas of Torbay. Relax and savour the salty sea air and mild coastal breezes. Most of all, enjoy our home-cooked food and warm hospitality.
Our bedrooms are all en-suite, completely refurbished and tastefully decorated to a high standard. All rooms include coffee and tea-making facilities, central heating, television, heated towel rails and a hairdryer. An iron and ironing board are available on request. Pay telephone, broadband internet and fax facilities are also available. |

The English Riviera " in South Devon comprises the harbour towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. These three towns together encircle Tor Bay , a Celtic name meaning 'hill bay', or a bay surrounded by steep hills. The rising hills form a suntrap around the bay, creating a warm, microclimate that is the warmest in England. Thus, The English Riviera or Torbay is famous for its three towns of:
Torquay with its special continental flair, Riviera café culture, glitzy marina, all-year illuminations, fashionable shops and lively nightlife
Paignton with its red sandstone cliffs, miles of sandy beaches and coastline, colourful beach huts and family-orientated resort pleasures
Brixham the busy fishing port full of maritime character, buzzing quayside shops and cafés and the rugged beauty of the Berry Head clifftops and Fort.
We are also a short distance from all local Torbay attractions such as Devon's best beaches (Abbey Sands, Meadfoot, Oddicombe, Maidencombe, Watcombe; Paignton Sands, Goodrington, Broadsands; Fischcombe, Shoalstone, St. Mary's Bay), the Living Coasts Marine Zoo (Torquay), Paignton Zoo, Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway , the Cliff Railway, Babbacombe Downs, Babbacombe Model Village, Bygones Victorian Museum, Quaywest Waterpark, Kent's Cavern prehistoric caves, Brixham and Dartmoor National Park. By car: M5 to A380, follow signs to Torquay. . . then take the A3022 dual carriageway towards Torquay. At the third set of traffic lights, fork left into Hele Road. Follow the signs for St Marychurch, Plainmoor TUFC, and Teignmouth B3199. Carry on to the second mini-roundabout and then follow the sign for Torquay United Plainmoor. At the top of Westhill Road, turn right at the traffic lights into St Marychurch Road. After approximately ¾ mile you will see on your right the (light blue) sign for ST MICHAEL'S HOTEL. We are opposite the Ash Hill Inn.
