Bed and Breakfast Description

Squirrel Lane Cottage is a charming 18th century Scottish town house that has been occupied since around 1789. It is one of Dunfermline's oldest buildings. It is situated in the heart of the historic district of the town and convenient to all amenities.

The ancient Abbey wall is just a few feet away and the cottage where Andrew Carnegie was born is across the street.

An entrance to the towns famous Pittencrief Park is found next to Squirrel Lane Cottage so you can enjoy a walk in a lovely country setting, finding peacocks, wood pigeons and of course squirrels.

Squirrel Lane Cottage has many of its original features, arched doorways, ornate cornices and fireplaces. The walls of the cottage are about two feet thick, keeping it cool in the summer and cosy in the winter. The house has been lovingly restored to keep a period theme throughout.

We offer two rooms in our cottage, a large twin bedded / sitting room which has an original Victorian fireplace, just what's needed for a cosy evening. It has a window with a view that looks over the River Forth and the famous Forth railway bridge. The room has a private Bathroom.

A smaller double room hasa view of the intimate garden. This room also has a Victorian fireplace.
