Bed and Breakfast Description

South Grange Bed and Breakfast is situated in a quiet country lane within easy walking distance of the historic village of Northiam.

South Grange has 3 rooms available for guest accommodation: 1 double room, 1 twin bedded room, 1 single room .

All rooms enjoy a view looking over the gardens and surrounding countryside.
All rooms are supplied with tea and coffee making facilities and bottled water.

The lounge is available for guests where they can curl up in front of the wood burning stove with a good book in winter or enjoy the panoramic views of the countryside in the summer.

Breakfast can be taken on the terrace in the summer and will include eggs from South Grange hens in addition to home made bread and marmalade.


Local Attractions

The area is within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which has a varied coastline from the natural cliffs at Hastings past the wide sandy beaches of Camber to the shingle ridges of Dungeness. There are bird watching opportunities at the reserves of Rye Harbour and New Romney.
The towns of Tenterden, Cranbrook, Rye, Battle and Hastings are within about 20km and offer a wide range of shops.
There are six National Trust properties in about 20km and other attractions include a variety of gardens, including Great Dixter which can be easily reached on foot, Merriments, Hole Park and Pashley Manor, several vineyards and the Kent and East Sussex railway.
Linda and Mike Belton, the owners, are very happy to suggest how to plan days out and maps are available on loan.
 

B&B Location

From the direction of M25 (junction 5), A21, A268 via Hawkhurst, A28 via Tenterden.
After crossing the river Rother then the Kent and East Sussex Railway level crossing, go up the slope towards Northiam village.
Fork left on A268 for Rye.
Along this twisting road, pass Four Wheel Drive Centre on right in small valley.
Quickbourne Lane is 200 yards on right at the top of short hill with a telegraph pole on the corner. The lane is named.
South Grange is about 600 yards on the right.
From the direction of Folkestone, Dungeness, Camber via Rye and A268
(Also recommended M20 via Ashford follow A2070 Brenzett and A259 Rye)
Some 1 ¾ miles after Beckley mini roundabout look for row of houses on right just after left and right bends.
Quickbourne Lane is beside telegraph pole on left opposite the last of the row of houses. You can come up to it unprepared, there is no sign.
If you overshoot, turn round at Four Wheel Drive Centre.
South Grange is about 600 yards down Quickbourne Lane on the right.
(Alternatively, turn left at Beckley mini roundabout B2088 and enter Northiam on A28 from Hastings.)
From direction of South Coast; Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings etc.
Enter village on A28 and follow to village centre.
Some 150 yards beyond Post Office, turn right into Beales Lane.
Beales Lane becomes Quickbourne Lane after some 600 yards at a small grass triangle.
South Grange is the third house on the left, some 300 yards.

Nearest Railway Station: Rye  (10  Minutes Drive)
