Bed and Breakfast Description

Sandon, originally a Victorian residence, is now a spacious welcoming guest house situated close to the old picturesque market square of Keswick, in the heart of the English Lake District and is only minutes away from the shores of lake Derwentwater.

Built around 1860 from the finest local slate we have retained many original Victorian features whilst tastefully renovating Sandon to provide the highest standards of bed and breakfast accommodation.

All bedrooms are furnished to a high standard and are en-suite (except the single rooms). Each room has a colour television, radio alarm clock, hairdryer, beverage maker, shoe cleaning and sewing facilities and an iron with ironing board is also available.

Start your day with breakfast served in our spacious dining room. Choose from a selection of juices, fresh fruit and cereals followed by a freshly cooked full English breakfast. Vegetarian and other special dietary requirements can also be accommodated.

We also have a secure cycle store for those wishing to enjoy the surroundings on two wheels rather than two feet.

We look forward to welcoming you to Sandon and can assure you of a delightful stay.

Local Attractions

The majestic Skiddaw mountain range, which rises to 3,054 feet, dominates the town and provides a fitting backdrop for a holiday within the Lake District National Park.

Many of Keswick's visitors spend time exploring the surrounding majestic fells or treading in the footsteps of the Lakeland poets, Beatrix Potter and many famous artists. The region also offers plenty of alternative locations in the form of historic landmarks, museums, gardens, coastal areas and other specialist visitor attractions.

In Keswick town itself is the famous Cumberland Pencil Factory, the acclaimed Theatre By The Lake, Castlerigg Stone Circle, two parks and variety of shops, places to eat & drink, a Saturday market and a host of other amenities.

The Lake District National Park is ever changing from moment to moment. Each season brings it's own particular colours & ambience and a myriad of plants, trees & animals including many unique Lakeland species. Whether you want to wander 'lonely as a cloud' or in an organised trip the Lake District has no equal.
