The Rest and Be Thankful is an early 19th century coaching Inn at the heart of Exmoor National Park, providing first-class bed & breakfast accommodation.
This popular Inn and restaurant is in the centre of Wheddon Cross, the highest village on Exmoor, and a perfect base from which to explore this beautiful National Park.
The Inn was originally a staging post for travellers on their way between Dunster and Dulverton, and you will still find a warm welcome, good food and extremely comfortable accommodation awaiting you there today, almost 200 years later!
The bedrooms at the Rest and Be Thankful provide guests with a level of comfort more usually found in a four-star hotel rather than a Country Inn. All our bedrooms are en-suite with good quality furnishings. Our comfortable beds are made up with crisp cotton sheets. Soft white bathrobes and a basket containing good quality toiletries and face cloths provide extra touches of luxury.
Great care and attention has been taken to ensure your complete enjoyment, from double glazing to sound proofing the floor so that no noise penetrates from the bar below. The two bedrooms at the front of the building are large and spacious and the three at the rear enjoy views of Dunkery Beacon and the surrounding countryside.
Each room has a mini bar, safe deposit box, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities, television and telephone. All bedrooms are non-smoking. There are ironing facilities on the first floor landing.
Our family bedroom can accommodate two adults and two children or up to four adults in comfort. A choice of a double bed and two singles or four singles beds is available in this room.
