Description

Newark Lodge Guest House dates back to the 17th century and has all the charm of a Tudor House with beautiful old ships timbers used in the construction. Sheila and Mike Spratt, who have been hoteliers all their working lives welcome you to the comfort of this fine house where you will receive professional and friendly attention.

The bedrooms are doubles and are en-suite, with colour television, trouser press, hairdryer, hospitality tray and are non smoking.

Breakfast cooked to order are served in the spendour of the dining room which over looks the drawing room with it's inglenook fireplace and a wealth of beams.

We do not serve evening meals, but the Chester Pub just down the road, look after our customers with special attension, and even offer you a discount because you are staying a Newark Lodge.

Local Attractions

The town of Newark, located on the River Trent, is steeped in history with such names as Charles 1st, Lord Byron and King John just to mention a few. Drowning in antiques, with its world famous "Antiques Fair" which takes place six times a year. People come from all over the world just to view the three thousand stalls at each antiques fair. Newark has 2 theatres, a good range of shops, museums, arts centres. Nearby is Southwell, with it's very fine Minster dating back to Norman times, and of course the most famous forest in the universe "Sherwood Forest", and hey you might just bump into Robin Hood or Maid Marion!!

All the sports from 5 golf courses to all weather horse racing, fishing, boating. A short ride by car or train takes you to Lincoln or Southwell with stunning Cathedrals or you may chose to visit Nottingham with it's castles and where you may shop till you drop!! We are within staggering distance of the Chester's Pub who serve excellent food and even offer our Guests a discount - You can't beat that!!
 

Location

From Nottingham take the A52 past Radcliffe-on-Trent. Then at the next roundabout follow the A46 to Newark. You will pass East Bridgford. Flintham and finally Farndon. Exit the A46 into Newark at the first opportunity, this is the B6166, after 1.3 miles you will arrive at an intersection/traffic lights turn right to Balderton. This is the London Road /B6326. Follow this road for 1.8 miles and you will arrive at traffic lights, turn left onto Main Street. Take the third turning on your left, this is Bullpit Road, number 5 is on your left.

From the A1. Take the exit to Newark/Balderton. (Coming from the south this is the first exit to Newark, coming from the North it is the third exit to Newark), and this is the B6326. At the first traffic lights turn right onto Main Street. Take the third turning on your left this is Bullpit Road. Number 5 is on your left.

From Lincoln take the A46 towards Newark, to Bypass Newark take the A1 South and exit at the Newark/Balderton, and follow the directions above.
