Bed and Breakfast Description

We invite you to stay in the English Lake District at Hilton House Guest house Windermere Cumbria, with your hosts Jenny and Martin Bowles. This elegant Edwardian home offers Bed and Breakfast accommodation.

The guest house is a stunning detached Edwardian ‘gentleman's’ residence with woodland views to the front and back. Hilton House has truly outstanding architectural features, woodwork, stained glass windows & is stylishly decorated throughout with interesting pictures, books and furniture, we also have two 4 poster bedrooms.

The breakfast room at Hilton house has a relaxing and contemporary feel to it. The colours are soft and show off the stunning antique dresser, which was originally built into the scullery, removed carefully & refurbished. The room has three lovely windows one of which has most unusual stained glass.

Local Attractions
The guest house is 5 minutes’ walk to the charming village of Windermere and 10 minutes’ walk to the lake and the lively little town of Bowness which nestles on its shore giving you a variety of interesting shops, pubs, restaurants and other places of interest such as the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and lake cruises.

Whilst staying with us in Windermere at Hilton House Guest House why not relax with our compliments at the exclusive Parklands Leisure Club, just 5 minutes away in Bowness, with swimming pool, sauna and steam room, jacuzzi and gymnasium, badminton , table-tennis, squash &snooker. Comfortable arm chairs with light lunches and drinks available.

Windermere & Bowness are ideal villages in which to base your short break or holiday as they are in the heart of this breathtaking area.

 

B&B Location
We are in Windermere, one of the main villages on the largest lake in the Lake District. Windermere is easily accessible by car and train. The village is on the A591, 14 miles from junction 36 of the M6, 250 miles from London, 90 miles from Manchester and 170 miles from Glasgow / Edinburgh.
The main railway station is at Oxenholme (near Kendal) on the main London Euston to Glasgow route (3.5 hours from London). A local train service runs from Oxenholme to Windermere and we are 10-15 minutes’ walk from the station
