All or some rooms have private bathrooms. Our BNB is a local building of historic interest. We accept payment in cash. Our establishment is fitted with central heating throughout. All or some rooms have ensuite facilities. We have fishing opportunities nearby.
Garden and/or patio area for guests There are golf facilitiesor nearby. Hairdryers are available in rooms or on request. There is a leisure centre nearby. We're sorry, we do not accept pets. We have on-site parking.
We have a residents lounge. Smoking is not permitted in the establishment. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities. All rooms have TV. We accept all cards that display the Visa logo.

Bed and Breakfast Description

 

We have a total of 14 rooms ranging from single rooms to a family room for 5. All our rooms have en suite bathrooms and have recently been refurbished to a high standard. They are lovingly maintained, each room having its own individual style.

Each room has a colour television, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a wealth of visitor information in your room and the guest lounge. We will be pleased to provide further information and advice on restaurants and attractions in York and the surrounding areas.

For your comfort, we are centrally heated, double glazed and strictly NON SMOKING throughout.

 

York Attractions

 
We are convenientely located for the inner and outer ring road. York Racecourse, one of the best appointed in the country, is a short walk away.

Behind Hillcrest is the beautifully landscaped Rowntree Park consisting of formal gardens, tennis courts, bowling greens, children's play areas and its lake and wildlife.
Beyond is the River Ouse and the delightful riverside walk into town.

York is an ideal base for exploring further afield - the Dales, famous for its James Herriot trail, "Emmerdale" country, the Bronte Parsonage at Haworth, the North Yorkshire Moors including Goathland where the television series "Heartbeat " is filmed on location, and through which the North Yorkshire Steam Railway runs on its way between Pickering and Grosmont, and the spectacular N.E. coastline taking in Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay.

Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey and also Flamingoland Pleasure Park are a short drive away.
 

B&B Location
 
From A1 take A64 then A1036, sign posted York West and then follow signs for City Centre. When you pass The Marriott Hotel on the right, take next turning right. Follow Knavesmire Road/Campleshon Road to the end. Go left into Bishopthorpe Road and Hillcrest is half a mile on the right.

When you arrive at York Railway Station go to the main entrance, turn right and follow Queen Street (over bridge) to the traffic lights. Continue straight over into Nunnery Lane passing a large car park on your left. Continue to the end of Nunnery Lane and turn right into Bishops Gate which then leads on to Bishopthorpe Road. We are on top of the hill on the left just past Southlands Church. The walk should take approximately 15 minutes.
Alternatively take bus No.11 to Bishopthorpe and exit at Bewlay Street.
