Bed and Breakfast Description

 

The Codd Family really like looking after their guests, so whether on business or pleasure come and enjoy the lovely en-suite rooms and relaxed atmosphere.

At Highfield we aim to provide the best and have been awarded the highest grade of Five Diamonds plus a Gold Award. In 2002/3 we won the “Best B&B” in the Eastern Region and came in the Top Ten in England.

Your bedroom may be in the Whitehouse or in our equally successful new barn conversion “Sunnyside”.

Full breakfast is served in the large, airy dining-room in Sunnyside, which overlooks the open fields, in which you may see some of the many wild birds on our farm.

Sandy Attractions

 
There are so many things to do and see in the local area. We have listed a few here for your information. We can also recommend some very pleasant local pubs and restaurants.

Visit the RSPB Headquarters at Sandy,
1 to 5 mile walks in heath/woodland and enjoy the birdwatching.

Duxford Imperial War Museum -
Duxford is about 30mins drive from Highfield Farm. They have an impressive static display of aircraft through the ages. They also have many flying days throughout the year.

Bedford Butterfly Park with their exotic tropical house and wildflower hay meadows.

The Shuttleworth Collection -
Old Warden holds the Shuttleworth Collection (veteran aeroplanes and cars), the Swiss Garden and a Falconry Center. All in beautiful countryside.

Other places of interest -
Also within easy reach are Woburn Abbey, Wimpole Hall, Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Ampthill and Bedford


 

B&B Location

 
We are located off the Southbound carriageway of the A1 just north of Sandy in Bedfordshire.

Directions South Bound
Take the A1 road towards London, notice A1 / A421 roundabout, stay on A1, the entrance to HIGHFIELD FARM is exactly 2.5 miles, on the left, directly from the A1. DRIVE SLOWLY and watch for YELLOW / BLACK sign.
Directions North Bound
Take the A1 Road towards “The North”, notice A1 / A603 / B1042 roundabout at Sandy, stay on A1, after about 1.5 miles, having passed a filling station, leave A1 to the left for BLUNHAM, then immediately turn right to access a new bridge over A1. Do a “U” turn over A1 and rejoin A1 towards London and Sandy, HIGHFIELD FARM is 300 yards on the left, directly from A1. DRIVE SLOWLY and watch for YELLOW / BLACK sign.

Please come to front door of white farmhouse, if no reply there, please come to front door of Sunnyside at the back.

Nearest Public House/Bar: Village  (5  Minutes Walk)

Nearest Railway Station: Bedford  (15  Minutes Drive)
