Bed and Breakfast Description

Greenside is a charming detached conservation house fronting on to Clifton Green. It is situated in a most convenient location just 10 minutes walk outside the City Walls, close to the many attractions that York has to offer.

Guests can choose from a selection of Single, Twin, Double and Family sized bedrooms. (We also have bedrooms situated on the ground floor - ideal for the elderly or persons with disabilities).

En-Suite rooms are available, and all rooms have Colour T.V, Tea/Coffee making facilities and are centrally heated.

Well behaved dogs are also welcome here. They have their own first class accommodation to the rear of the guesthouse! Please let us know in advance should you want to use this facility.

York has medieval origins and within the city walls visitors can take a trip back through history as they wander the quaint cobbled streets and specialist shops. There is also a large choice of restaurants and traditional pubs.

Because of York's increasing popularity parking is often a problem. Here at Greenside Guest House our guests are able to have free use of our enclosed locked car park.

Local Attractions

The skyline of York is dominated by it's famous Minster Cathedral which is the largest medieval Gothic cathedral north of the Alps. There are unrivalled views from the tower. The Undercroft treasury reveals layers of history with Roman, Saxon and Norman artifacts. The atmospheric crypt contains parts of the original Norman cathedral and the coffin of St William.

The recently refurbished Jorvik Centre takes visitors on a journey through time, back to the 10thC and the Viking age city of York. Having witnessed over 1,000 years of change in the time machine, visitors will journey through a reconstruction of the street of Coppergate complete with sights, sounds and smells. Everything they see is based on archaeological evidence unearthed on the very site.

Discover the story of the train in a great day out for all the family at The National Railway Museum. The Museum mixes fascination and education with hours of fun with loads of interactive exhibits and special daily events.

Catch the plague at York Dungeon, take a spine-tingling tour round the plague-ravaged streets of 14thC York. Follow the world's most-famous highwayman, Dick Turpin on his fateful journey to the gallows.
