We have a residents bar. Our BNB is a local building of historic interest. We accept payment in cash. Our establishment is fitted with central heating throughout. All or some rooms have ensuite facilities. Hairdryers are available in rooms or on request.

Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Bishops Hotel is a beautifully restored Victorian villa with individually designed en-suite bedrooms, all with comfort in mind.

Facilities include:
En-Suite bathroom, TV, Wireless internet connection, Hairdryer, Tea and coffee tray (with horlicks and hot chocolate), Radio alarm clock, Iron and ironing board, Tourist information.

We also offer a selection of individually designed suite rooms, all of which have the above facilities plus:
A comfortable sofa, CD player & CD's, TV & video, Bathrobes, a selection of sweets.

Available from reception:
Snack menu, Shoe cleaning materials, Emergency toiletries, Daily newspapers, further information/maps about York and surrounding attractions, book restaurants, taxis and tours, laundry service.

 

York Attractions

 
Jorvik Viking Centre- No trip to York would not be complete without visiting the world famous Viking Centre.

York Castle Museum, York Art Gallery and Yorkshire Museum and Gardens.

National Railway Museum- Admission is free to this world class collection of trains, presentations and fun.

York Dungeon- Learn all the grizzly details about York's past with a visit to the York Dungeons.

York Boat -Enjoy a daytime or evening cruise along the river Ouse.

York City Sight Seeing- Just one of the many companies offering informative and enjoyable bus tours of York.

Castle Howard- This wonderful 18th Century house only 20 minutes from York is well worth the visit.
 

B&B Location
 
The A59 comes straight into York and becomes the Poppleton Road. Travel along this road past the new housing development on your left until you come to a set of traffic lights. You will also see the Fox pub on your left. Travel straight on – the road now becomes Holgate Road. Bishops Hotel is 250 Meters up the hill on the right hand side.

North
When travelling from the North, use the A1. Come off at junction 47 onto the A59 York–Holgate Road and follow instructions under 'Directions by Road' above.

South
When travelling from the south, you will use the M1 or the A1. The M1 now comes around Leeds and joins the A1 South of York. Come off the A1M at Junction 45 onto the A64 York–Leeds Road. Come off the A64 at the A1237 York bypass and follow this road until you come to the York–Harrogate A59 roundabout and follow the instructions under 'Directions by Road' above.

West
Coming from Manchester and the West, use the M64. Look for the signs for York and the M1–A1 North and come off the A1M at Junction 45 – the A64 Leeds–York road. Come off the A64 at A1237 York bypass and follow the instructions under 'Directions by Road' above.
